SOURCES AND LIMITSEvery result shows where it came from and what it cannot tell you.Data & method

Research and methodology

Evidence for useful context, not a safety verdict.

Aamegh combines attributable public records with explicit limits. Research helps define what a number can explain, where it stops, and why missing evidence must remain visible.

Recorded crime
Not the same as prevalence
City total
Not a neighbourhood count
Research finding
Not a live operational feed

Candidate public data

Sources that can add practical context.

Each resource still needs a fixed version, licence decision, field allowlist, geography match, checksum and publication review.

These references inform explanation, questions and safeguards. Their findings are cited, not imported as current area measurements.

Publication boundary

What cannot enter the public map.

  • Respondent, survivor, accused, caller or case-level records
  • Exact incident locations or inferred neighbourhood crime counts
  • Research conclusions presented as live conditions
  • Downloaded material without confirmed reuse and attribution terms

Use the evidence

Ask three questions before acting on a number.

A source is useful when you can identify what was counted, where it was counted and when the observation applies.

01 / DEFINITION

What does the measure count?

Registered cases, survey responses, facilities and road deaths describe different events. Read the unit and source definition before comparing them.

02 / GEOGRAPHY

Does the boundary match the decision?

A State, metropolitan city, district and map point are not interchangeable. Aamegh keeps each value on the boundary used by its source.

03 / TIME

Is it current enough for this use?

Annual statistics explain a period. They do not confirm today’s opening hours, a live incident or present journey conditions.

Understand this page

How research informs Aamegh’s explanations.

This page sets out why different sources cannot be treated as interchangeable measurements of a place. It is for readers who want to understand the reasoning behind the map, directory and journey limits.

Recorded cases and lived experience

A recorded-crime table describes cases within an official reporting system. Research about experiences or perceptions asks different questions with different methods. Neither should silently be substituted for the other.

Published geography and time

Check the population, reporting boundary, reference year and category before using a statistic. A district, metropolitan reporting area and municipal boundary may not describe the same place. A historical baseline is not a current observation.

Candidate sources and live records

A listed research paper or candidate dataset does not mean its rows are available on the map. Aamegh needs a reviewed version, permitted fields and an appropriate geography before publishing operational context.

Questions about this page

Does a cited study generate a score?

No. Research informs questions and explanations. It is not automatically imported as a live measurement or used to label a neighbourhood.

Can I download private or respondent data?

This page offers source references, not access to private submissions, survey respondents or an unrestricted research API.
